The story
Chama — little millet — a fine-grained rain-fed millet grown alongside thina on the Palakkad dry-belt. Cleaned and lightly polished, with most of the bran intact. Higher in fibre than rice, gentle on the gut, and the traditional Kerala recovery food after illness or fasting.
- Soak 15 minutes; cook 1:2.5 water, 15 minutes
- Use in kanji, payasam, or as a rice replacement
- Especially useful for slow-moving digestion
